AWE News

AWE (Awesome Wildlife Effort) News was founded in 2013 to educate using Art, Social Media, and Public Broadcasting on the threat of extinction in the wild to Elephants, Rhinos, and Big Cats. This began with an in-studio TV-Show on public broadcasting WLAE called “Awesome Wildlife Effort.” Awe erected a 16’ tall elephant sculpture in Kenner on Loyola Dr.

Many of the You Tube videos are usable by the non-profits being interviewed and are provided for free to support their “Awesome” Effort. Donors to AWE News are listed in the production credits or episode depending on level of donation. Shows are designed to be “evergreen” and suitable for annual playing.

In 2015-2017, The Krewe of Awe unit paraded in Tucks, Alla, and Corps de Napoleon handing out endangered species information including coloring cards with a provided Elephant float by Lt. Governor Nungesser.  As a result of advocacy, education, and other factors the rate of elephants being lost to poaching dropped by 50% to 10,000 to 15,000 during in 2018 from 30,000 in 2011.

AWE donates funds to organizations worldwide to care for orphaned baby animals to poaching.
