Mission
The Miracle Match Fund connects the next generation of philanthropists with regional nonprofit organizations providing valuable programming and resources for children with special needs, at-risk youth, and other vulnerable populations. Through youth-led fundraising and service initiatives, Miracle Match gives young people the opportunity to turn their own interests, talents, and ideas into meaningful impact in their community.
History
Founded in 2024 by Harrison Mayfield, Miracle Match began as a junior doubles tennis tournament organized by local teens to benefit Miracle League Northshore. In its first two years, the tournament raised $31,500, providing significant support to Miracle League Northshore and helping fund improvements to its playing field.
Now in its third year, Miracle Match is expanding that original idea beyond the annual tennis tournament. Led by a committee of teens with the guidance of community advisors, the Fund continues its longstanding support of Miracle League Northshore while also providing resources for youth-led community projects throughout the year in partnership with regional nonprofit organizations whose work aligns with the Miracle Match mission.
This spring, committee member and 2026 co-chair Scarlett Mayfield organized Miracle League Northshore’s first-ever cheer clinic, bringing together Miracle League athletes and student volunteers for an afternoon of cheer, dance, and fun. The Miracle Match Fund sponsored the initiative by providing t-shirts and poms for participants, and the success of the inaugural clinic has inspired plans to continue the program.
The 3rd annual Miracle Match Junior Doubles Tennis Tournament will be co-chaired by St. Scholastica Academy junior Scarlett Mayfield and St. Paul’s School junior Peyton Pear, both returning members of the Miracle Match committee, on October 18, 2026, at Tchefuncta Country Club. Proceeds will continue to provide significant support to Miracle League Northshore, while a portion will remain in the Miracle Match Fund to support youth-led community projects throughout the year.
Why
Miracle Match was inspired by founder Harrison Mayfield’s experiences both volunteering and playing tennis. Beginning in 2021, Harrison served as a Miracle League “buddy” to children with special needs, including his friend and neighbor Michael. A lifelong tennis player who also coached junior tennis, Harrison saw an opportunity to bring those two parts of his life together by inviting other young people to use a sport they loved to help others.
What began as one tennis tournament has since grown into a broader vision: give young people the resources and opportunity to turn the things they care about into ways to serve their community.
Today, Miracle Match continues to be run by kids, helping kids – and is creating new ways for the next generation to experience philanthropy not simply as donors, but as organizers, volunteers, fundraisers, and community leaders.
